A+ Events: Hosting the Perfect Long Island Wedding

Long Islander’s take their summer’s and their soirees seriously. And, when it comes to weddings, no one does it quite like we do. Still, brides and grooms, despite all their hard work, prepping and planning may run into some “unexpected situations”. And that means being ready to handle them with grace and a minimum amount of stress.
1. Somebody Done Somebody Wrong: Whether it’s something you can’t control like the weather or a miscommunication its best to accept that something will not go according to plan on your wedding day. Weddings are just like marriage, imperfect, but it’s how you handle it that make all the difference. Take mishaps in stride and have a plan B in place or be quick to come up with one…it will help to make things run more smoothly and its likely your guests won’t even notice.
2. The Missing Link: What if mom or dad aren’t there to walk you down the aisle. Or what happens if someone in your wedding party gets sick. Honor those who can’t be present with a special tribute either in pictures or in a special reading. You could opt to wear your grandmother’s dress pick a favorite song of theirs for your first or last dance. Should someone in the wedding party get sick have his or her partner walk down the aisle alone or with someone else.
3. Remember Less Is More: Sure you are going to want to bring along you entire entourage when you go dress shopping, but remember that too many chefs spoil the broth as do too many (often unsolicited) opinions. Its best to begin your dress shopping with mom and grandma or your sister, and maybe his mother (if you like her and are close). You can show the rest of your bridal party your selection once it’s been finalized. We also strongly advise you meet with your stylist beforehand (if possible) and make sure you click. Remember he or she has a trained eye so take their advice seriously.
4. Make It Personal: The best way to ensure an event you are happy with is to opt for an event that has staying power…not too trendy or traditional and that suits the two of you. Have a vision in mind or seek out the services of a pro who can guide you. Keep a journal with plenty of pictures and notes and check things off as you go. Tailor your event to you and your beloved but also to your crowd. Remember older attendees probably won’t enjoy and evening of Rap music so make sure you incorporate elements to please everyone.
